MTR Corporation will ensure the smooth implementation of the project through rigorous planning and the adoption of innovative technologies and new construction methods.

"The Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line project requires construction works on top of the operating East Rail Line while maintaining the daily railway operation, making the construction process extremely challenging. The team is well-prepared to overcome these challenges and will adopt innovative technologies and new construction methods, and work together to take forward the project as planned," said Mr Carl Devlin, Capital Works Director of MTR Corporation.

Mr Carl Devlin, Capital Works Director of MTR Corporation, delivered the opening remarks at the Ground-breaking Ceremony for Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line.

Upon commissioning, Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line is expected to be the 100th heavy rail station in operation in the MTR network, enhancing the overall railway network and injecting new vitality into the community. In the future, the journey time for citizens to travel between KTN NDA and Sheung Shui by railway will be significantly less than the current road journey during peak hours.

The MTR Corporation signed the Project Agreement for Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line with the HKSAR Government in September this year. The major civil works contract for the project has subsequently been awarded, and the contractor is Dragages Hong Kong Limited.
