
As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the Northern Link project team has once again partnered with the Kam Tin Rural Committee (KTRC) to host the “Northern Link Lantern Workshop: Lighting Up the Full Moon.” This year, the team visited three primary schools in the Kam Tin community which are Tung Tak School, S.K.H St. Joseph’s Primary School, and Kam Tin Mung Yeung Public School. During the workshops, students unleashed their creativity by designing vibrant and playful lanterns inspired by the Northern Link, the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the unique features of their local community. The event not only brought festive cheer to the schools, but also helped students learn more about the Northern Link project and deepen their sense of belonging to Kam Tin.

This meaningful interaction not only fostered closer connections but also sparked the students’ creativity that encouraging them to link the Northern Link with their own community and thoughtfully incorporate these elements into their lantern designs.

Having finished their lantern creations, the students were bursting with excitement and could not wait to showcase their works to everyone.

As a memento of the event, each student was presented with a thoughtfully curated stationery set prepared by the Northern Link project team.
To share the festive spirit and showcase the students’ creativity with the wider community, their lantern artworks were exhibited at the Kam Tin Rural Committee on the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival, allowing tradition and creativity to shine together throughout the community.
