The second “Northern Link - Youth Ambassadors Programme” has officially launched. This year, we have selected 50 Youth Ambassadors – nearly double the number from the previous year. Jointly organised by the MTR Corporation and the Yuen Long Town Hall, this programme aims to identify and nurture community-minded youths who have grown up in Yuen Long District to serve as a bridge between the NOL and the community by delivering dozens of school talks across primary and secondary schools in Yuen Long District. This initiative also seeks to deepen the community's understanding of this new railway project, uniting the efforts to jointly drive the vibrant development of the Northern Link.
The kick-off ceremony of the programme was held on 11 August. Representatives from the Yuen Long District Office and Rural Committees, other district representatives from Yuen Long, school principals, parents and local residents attended to support the Youth Ambassadors.

Mr Wong Chau-tim, Chairman of the 43rd Management Committee of Yuen Long Town Hall, stated that the first cohort of Youth Ambassadors primarily targeted primary school students. The new cohort aims to promote the benefits of the Northern Link to residents of all age groups in Yuen Long District—from the elderly to adults and young children, including its role in fostering integration with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. He emphasised that primary and secondary students are not only a driving force of society but also the future service users, and therefore should be helped to understand the positive impact of such developments on the community.

Mr Wong Chau-tim, Chairman of the 43rd Management Committee of Yuen Long Town Hall, hopes that all of the Youth Ambassadors will gain valuable experience from this programme.

Thanks to the enthusiastic support of local stakeholders, this group of youths officially became the second Northern Link Youth Ambassadors and will make their debut in September giving talks.
Prior to the programme's official launch, the Yuen Long Town Hall and the Northern Link project team arranged a training workshop to provide the Youth Ambassadors with the necessary knowledge and skills for their new role.

Apart from attentively listening to the briefing on project information, the Youth Ambassadors eagerly participated in answering fun quizzes about the MTR and the Northern Link project.

During the workshop, a professional emcee delivered a training session to the Youth Ambassadors on public speaking and communication skills.

The Northern Link project team members get well along with the Youth Ambassadors and quickly built a rapport with them during the training workshop.
To further deepen the Youth Ambassadors’ understanding of MTR’s development journey and the application of innovative technologies, we organised a railway experience tour that took them on a meaningful exploration from past to future. The ambassadors visited the “Station Rail Voyage” exhibition, where they revisited the history of Hong Kong’s railway development. They then moved forward into the future by touring the “Digital Delivery Centre” established by the project team, gaining insights into how cutting-edge technologies are being applied to the Northern Link. This immersive experience broadened their horizons.

By visiting the "Station Rail Voyage”, the ambassadors not only broadened their horizons and deepened their understanding of Hong Kong’s railway development history but were also inspired to reflect on the vital role railways play in urban development.

Through their visit to the “Digital Delivery Centre”, the ambassadors gained insights into how innovative technologies are being applied to the Northern Link, enhancing their understanding of how technological integration drives railway development.
