Capitalising on the time during both day and night, construction of Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line under the Northern Link project is taking place at full speed. A series of works are being carried out in the operating tunnels during the “Golden Two Hours” after train service to transform the designated section of the tunnel box into the future station platform.
The project team diverted two 300m sections of emergency evacuation walkways within one single night.
The project team had earlier diverted emergency evacuation walkways during non-traffic hours to vacate space for the installation of Platform Screen Door components, including the Header Boxes and Platform Fixed Panels. Installation of Platform Screen Doors is scheduled to begin in July and is targeted for completion in the fourth quarter of this year.
Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line is expected to be fully completed by 2027, providing efficient and convenient railway services to the Kwu Tung North New Development Area within the Northern Metropolis.
